Department of fisheries inaugurated La-ang riverine fishery project at La-ang River, Pangsha village, Noklak sub-division, Tuensang on May 27. The project was undertaken by NABARD under RIDF-XI at a total cost of `101.89 lakhs covering an area of 5 ha. Parliamentary secretary, fisheries, R&R and printing & stationeries S. Heno, graced the occasion as chief guest. Heno stressed on the need for conservation indigenous fishes and encouraged the New and Old Pangsha villagers who attended the programme, to work in unity and maintain the project. He also thanked NABARD for taking-up innovative project that would benefit the population of more than 20,000. The project was officially handed over to the village council chairman of both Old and New Pangsha Village. The inaugural programme was chaired by Zhaleo Rio, IAS, Secretary, fisheries and PHED and a brief report of the project delivered by Kevisa Kense, joint director of fisheries. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Zenohol Angami, additional director of fisheries.
