CM launches 1st phase EPIC, PER campaign

 State chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Wednesday launched the first phase photography campaign for Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) of Photo Electoral Rolls (PER) 2011 at his residential office. Speaking to media, the chief minister appealed to all civil societies, churches, NGOs and concerned citizens to participate in the campaign.  He also said that EPIC campaign has been completed in all the States in India except in Assam and Nagaland. He said that having completed the Census 2011 successfully, the state was in a position to take correct measures and go ahead with the EPIC campaign. Stating that the exercise is mandatory for all eligible citizens, the Chief Minister appealed to all civil societies, churches, NGOs and concerned citizens to participate in the campaign.  The Elector Voter Identity Card can be used for availing many functions like obtaining Pan Card, LPG collection etc and as proof of ID check-in in the Airports and in Railway Station. The Chief Minister called upon all to take the exercise seriously, which would also check manipulation in the electoral roll.  (With inputs DIPR)
