KAOT conference: The 5th general conference of Kohima Ao Officertem Telongjem (KAOT) would be held on June 11, 10am at Zonal Council Hall, Kohima. Principal OTS, Dimapur and convenor FNR, Rev. Dr. Wati Aier, the main speaker would deliver on the topic ‘Responsibilities of an officer’. The organizers have requested all KAOT members and former members who have retired from service during the period August 2010 to April 2011 to attend the meeting.
JNV selection test: The selection test to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) would be conducted on July 10, 9.30am to 12 noon. In this regard Principal JNV, Mokokchung has informed all applicants to collect forms from JNV Yimyu, Mokokchung before June 30 and admit cards would be available from principal JNV Yimyu, Mokokchung from June 30 and else can be collected from examination centers later. Centers for JNVST-2011 under Mokokchung district are: Mangkolemba block at Baptist Higher Secondary School Mangkolemba Center, Ongpangkong Block at John Douglas Yimyu Ward, Mokokchung, Mokokchung Block at Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School, Kubolong Block at Government High School Sungratsu, Changtongya Block-I at Government High School Changtongya and Changtongya Block-II at Government High School Tuli.
ANGDA meeting: All Nagaland Government Drivers’ Association (ANGDA) has convened its central executive meeting on June 11, 10am at the conference hall of Nagaland contractors and suppliers union, PWD Junction, Kohima. All executive members including ND and DGDU and NSDU have been requested to attend the meeting with their nominees for audit. It further directed the departments’ representatives to bring along with their membership fee.
LSU summer meet: Lazami students’ union (LSU) has informed that its summer meet would be held on June 18 at Lazami LSU meeting hall. All unit presidents along with their representatives, advisors and executives have been requested to attend the meeting.
ZSU felicitation programme: The 6th fresher’s felicitation programme cum career guidance programme of the Zhadima Students’ Union (ZSU) would be held on June 11, 10am at Indoor stadium Zhadima village. All HSLC successful candidates of 2011 along with their parents and guardians have been invited to the programme.
LUD emergency meeting: Lokobomi Union Dimapur (LUD) has convened an emergency meeting on June 11, 4pm at the residence of the banker, Nuton bosti Dimapur. All Lokobomis residing in Dimapur have been requested to attend the meeting.
ASSU 1st union assembly: The 1st union assembly of All Sumi Students’ Union (ASSU) has been convened on June 15, 10:30am at its conference hall, Zunheboto. All executives, unit president, representatives, tribunals and former ASSU leaders have been requested to attend the meeting.
DNST emergency general meeting: Dimapur Nokpu Senso Telongjem (DNST) has convened an emergency general meeting on June 11, 9am at residence of the treasurer, Bank Colony Dimapur.
ACD general meeting: Aichisaghemi Community Dimapur (ACD) has convened a general meeting on June 11, 10am at the residence of Viheto, banker ACD and retired SDO, Naharbari Dimapur. All have been requested to attend the meeting.
CSC emergency executive council meeting: Changkikong Students’ Conference (CSC) has convened an emergency executive council meeting on June 13, 2pm at the residence of Dr. Temsü Ozüküm, treasurer DC Court Dimapur. All executives, senior executives, secretaries and elders of CSC have been requested to attend the meeting.
BJP state executive meeting: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has convened a sate executive meeting on June 22, 11am at the state party office where central leaders Rajan Gohai MP in charge of Nagaland, Tapir Gao ex-MP, national general secretary and P. Chandrashekar Rao, NE-organization in charge BJP will be attending the meeting. All state office bearers, state executive members, state frontals head and general secretary. State cells convenor, special invitees, ex-ministers, ex-MLA’s, ex-president and general secretary (org) of the party have been requested to attend the meeting.
CYO presidential meeting: Chakhro Youth Organisation (CYO) has convened its presidential meeting on June 18, 10am at CPO hall Chumukedima. All Angami villages’ youth presidents and office bearers in Chakhro area have been requested to attend the meeting and submit the distributed CYO calendar money.
7th Peren A/C NPF meeting: The 7th Peren A/C NPF meeting along with Peren division and all villages NPF units has been convened on June 11, 11am at the Morung of T.R Zeliang, New Jalukie village. Youth wing, women wing of division, AC and all villages NPF unit presidents and secretaries have been requested to attend the meeting.
GVC clarifies: Ghoshito Village Council (GVC) has clarified the news item “5 held for extortion in Dmu”, that Khekiye (Raja Peyu) of FGN was not a resident of Ghoshito village as mentioned. This was informed in a press release issued by Vizheto Sumi, chairman GVC.
SAKK presidential meet: Sumi Aphuyemi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (SAKK) has convened its presidential meet on June 13, 11am at NSF Conference Hall. All SAKK executives and unit presidents have been requested to attend the meeting and for further information to contact 9856231408 (president SAKK).
BVC informs: Benreu Village Council (BVC) Peren has informed all concerned that the BSNL contractor, laying optical fiber cables from Pedi to Benreu village has failed to pay dues to the laborers and also failed to cover much of the stretch after laying the cables despite the assurance that it will be cleared by June 8. The council has urged the BSNL authorities not to make any payments for the stretch till clearance was given by the village authority and to clear the dues and tracts to be properly covered within June 15, failing which, the village authority said it would not be held responsible for any damage caused to the cables laid along the stretch.
GHSS first aid campaign held: First aid campaign was held at GHSS Noklak on May 26. The programme was attended by 673 students, and 41 staff. Later pen and sweets were distributed to the students.
PSUD felicitation program: Poilwa Students’ Union Dimapur (PSUD) would be organizing a felicitation programme for successful candidates of HSLC and HSSLC examinations on June 11, 10am at Poilwalui prayer fellowship, Walford under the theme ‘ towards greater height’. All the ex-officious, elders, well wishers and members of PSUD have been requested to attend the programme.
BJP Tuensang clarifies: Bhartiya Janata Party of Tuensang district has clarified to the news statement regarding Shokiumong Hd. GB of Meleangkiur village joining the BJP party. General secretary, BJP Tuensang district K. Jessie Akheam, said he resigned from the NPF party while K. Khesang former president Kisan cell Tuensang district visited his residence. BJP Tuensang district said there was no doubt about his resignation and joining the BJP fold.
Corrigendum: Apropos the news item which was carried on this daily on June 8 under the headline “TPO on preservation of Intanki’s integrity”, the starting paragraph should read as “Tenyimi Peoples’ Organization (TPO) has once again reierated its demand saying 20,202 hectares of land for the present ‘Intanki National Park’ was freely donated by old Beisumpui village”, and not as rendered.
EUUN new appointments: Educated Unemployed Union Nagaland has formed a new committee under its union called the Angami Co-ordination Committee with Vitsituo Semou as its president, V. Chülie Metsie-o as its vice president, Keviyieno Yhoshü as its general secretary and Kevisenuo Angami as her assistant. President of EUUN, Achilo Thong has asked them to assume responsibilities and further work towards promoting aims of the union in the interest of Nagas. Meanwhile, the EUUN in its emergency meet on June 9, appointed Er. Vichütho Nyusou as its general secretary for rest of the tenure. The newly appointed has been asked to submit his joining report and assumeresponsibility.
Training on acidic soils: A training on reclamation of acidic soils was conducted on June 9 by the office of District Soil Conservation Officer, Dimapur at the office premise. In the training, Hevikhe Sumi, DSCO, deliberated on causes of soil acidity and related problems. Hovuto Zhimomi, SDO, sopke on reclamation of the acidic soils. CEO of Agri-Tech Services invited experts from Care Pro Bio Science Pvt.Ltd. New Delhi, Raman Choudhury and Santosh Singh. They highlighted the mitigation of acidic soils with application of “Bio-Mix”, a composite bio-cultures along with the demonstration.Altogether, 65 participants attended the programme.
ANSTA Zunheboto unit reminds: All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) Zunheboto has expressed anguish and surprise over the transfer of Anili Shohe, Hindi teacher Project high school Zunheboto to Cherry blossom school Lerie Kohima on April 4. Earlier, the association has appealed the director of school education through the deputy inspector of school Zunheboto to revoke the transfer the order in the interest of the student community of Zunheboto district but to no avail. In a press release issued by Bohoto Zhimo, president and Yeshuho Y. Kiba general secretary, ANSTA has reminded the commissioner and secretary to immediately cancel the transfer of the Hindi teacher adding it has contravened the basic objective of the association and also drifted away from the government policy of equitable distribution of post in every district. Failing to heed to their reminder, the association said it would be compelled to initiate their own course of action.
Entrepreneurship orientation at NIIT: NIITians got an opportunity to put their foot forward in the direction of entrepreneurship in a session taken by Chuba Longkumer and Manash Bhattacharjee, group leader, industry collaboration and group leader, operations respectively. Elaborating on the very relevant theme, Chuba sought the opinion of NIITians on taking up entrepreneurship. As students failed to give spontaneous response, Chuba said “This goes on to prove that lots of encouragement is the need of the hour in today’s Nagaland”. Talking on how easy it is to become an entrepreneur, Chuba dwelled upon the fact that anybody with a laptop, technical knowledge of current technologies like Java, PHP, ASP.net, C#, hardware, networking etc., to make desktop applications, website development, maintenance of computers can take up entrepreneurship to apply his creativity and innovation with determination on the world canvas.Citing an example of a cyber café owner who adapted to new technologies after learning hardware and networking course at NIIT itself and expanded into citizens’ interface for electrical department etc., Manash exhorted the NIITians to take up entrepreneurship in a big way. Echoing their sentiments, many of the trainees vowed to take up the challenges of entrepreneurship in Nagaland, thwarting their earlier notion of lack of confidence, ideas, experience, finance etc.
Farm school on banana and fishery: A farm school on banana and fishery was opened at Tsungza and Alikhum villages under ATMA Wokha on May 30 and June 1 respectively. During the inauguration programs, resource persons were Zuthunglo BTT convener, Yanglen DPD, Pipen SMS, Portia BTT convener, Subenthung DPD, Mhomo SMS, Janbenthung BTM and Abeni BTM. Further farm school kit and fingerlings were distributed to the farm school students. In another program, SHG/CIG/FOs mobilization and appraisal was conducted on May 25 and May 31 at LTC Hall Wokha and town hall Baghty respectively. Altogether 110 farmers attended the program.
Training on VEMB in Mon: One day capacity building and training on communitization of Village Electricity Management Board (VEMB) was held at council hall, Mon on May 19 with G. Paniker, SDO (E), Mon and N. Manep Anghaa, JE (E), Mon as the resource persons. In his keynote address, Er. S.K. Gupta, S.E. (Elect), Mokokchung Division spoke on the need of empowerment of VEMB for effective implementation of communitization programme at the grass root level. He emphasized on the importance of communitization programme of the Government and its benefit if it is implemented judiciously and effectively and urged upon the gathering VEMB to work harder to implement the programme for the benefit of the mass. Chairman Village Electricity Management Board of Goching village, C. Chingkam Konyak shared his experiences and the benefit of Communitization of VEMB in his village. The resource persons stressed on various aspects of communitization of VEMB intwrxtes with the VEMB. 150 Village Electricity Management Board from 51 communitized villages attended the programme.
IRCS Noklak branch visit war veteran: Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Noklak branch members visited Mukom World War- II veteran at his residence on April 10. Mukon at age 115 is the oldest person under Noklak town, who had served as a soldier in the 3rd Assam regiment, sepoy No. 4723 and retired at October 5 1949 from Army headquarter Bara bazaar Shillong. The branch further regretted that the government of India has not granted him pension or any other allowances, despite serving as a soldier in the army. IRCS Noklak as a token of gratitude, gifted him a blanket during their visit.
Social welfare dept vehicle stolen: A vehicle (Bolero light-green bearing no. NL-10 7550) belonging to joint director, Social Welfare department was reportedly stolen in broad daylight infront of the office, near Badminton Stadium here Thursday.
The vehicle is said to have been stolen while the officer and his driver were inside the office.
However, by the time police received information, it was believed that that the vehicle may have already crossed Kohima.

Thief arrested: One LDA from PWD R&B, Kohima hailing from Nihoshe village, Aghunato Sub-division Zunheboto district and currently residing at Lerie Colony Kohima was caught on CCTV while stealing a laptop from a computer shop on June 6, around 4.30pm. The thief identified as Hopson Sumi (Awomi) s/o Khetovi Awomi (27) was finally nabbed on Thursday by Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO) and business community from Old BOC.
A release issued by Dzieseneituo Belho, president KVYO has banished Hopeson from Kohima for an indefinite period with immediate effect and also warned it will not bear any responsibility for any consequences meted upon him in future if seen in Kohima. However, the organization stated that the accused will be allowed to come to Kohima on medical grounds with prior permission of KVYO.
He was handed over by the KVYO to police for necessary action. Further, KVYO appealed the business community to install CCTVs in their respective shops stating it would not only help nab thieves but be helpful to both the society and law enforcing agency.
