Attempted ‘rape’ on minor

A 19-year-old boy identified as Zhaviu Kahie allegedly attempted to rape a minor girl at Rüsoma village May 5 last.
The incident reportedly took place at around 4 p.m. when the minor girl (around 14 years), along with her mother was returning after fetching water. The accused allegedly waylaid and attempted to rape her. However, on hearing her scream the girl’s mother came to her rescue and the accused fled the scene. The village council kept the accused under observation with strict restriction on his movements.
However, on finding that the accused continued to defy restrictions and found loitering around the vicinity of the victim’s house, the matter was informed to the police on June 12 and a FIR lodged with the north police station. Police on receiving the FIR arrested the accused and registered a case.
