Rio meets Myanmar’s envoy

Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio, who met Myanmar ambassador to India U Zin Yaw at Myanmar Embassy, Delhi today, discussed issues concerning development activities and promotion of friendly relationship among people residing on either side of borders – India and Myanmar. Referring to large number of Nagas residing in Myanmar, the chief minister underlined the need to attend to their problems and development needs, a statement released by commissioner & secretary to CM, L. Kire said Thursday. Rio also informed that people of Nagaland were happy that Myanmar government had given representation to Nagas of Myanmar in political process of their country.  The ambassador reportedly said he was yet to present his credentials to the president of India. U Zin Yaw, however, informed that he would also be taking over as chairman of the ambassadors of the ASEAN countries to India and that they had made plans to visit Nagaland towards the end of the year.  Extending warm invitation for such visit, chief minister said he would be looking forward to meeting him and ASEAN representatives in Nagaland. The chief minister was accompanied by minister planning T. R. Zeliang and other state officials.
