Following the assurance given by the state government, the Nagaland Civil Services Association (NCSA) and Nagaland Secretariat Services Association (NSSA) have reportedly decided to call of the proposed first phase joint agitation. The NCSA and NSSA had proposed to agitate against the state government’s failure to fulfill demand against absorption of officers from other services. Chief minister Neiphiu Rio Tuesday assured a delegation of the two associations who met him at his official bungalow, that absorption of officers from other services outside the state will not be repeated by the state government. He also asked the two associations to call off the proposed agitation. Following the assurances, the NCSA and NSSA after a joint meeting held at the Secretariat Conference Hall decided to call off the proposed agitation. It may be mentioned that annoyed by the continuing absorption of officers on deputation from other services by the state government, despite assurances given to the association by the state government in the year 2000, the two associations had earlier proposed to launch a joint agitation beginning with the first phase Tuesday.
