Hundreds of music lover turned up to witness the first ever eastern rock contest organized by unemployed youth wing society at Tuensang town hall on Saturday. Lt. Col. Satyendra Singh Second in Command 1st Assam Rifles Tuensang was the chief guest. The Re-evolution band from Kiphire district competed with the other six bands and emerged as the winner carrying a cash award of `10, 000 and an electric guitar while Psychonic band from Tuensang was adjudged the runners up with `8,000 as the prize money. In the individual prize category, Leochum of Re- evolution band won the best vocalist award, Seliki of Re- evolution band as the best rhythm, Tsungdang of Forsythia band as the best lead guitarist, Throngso of Forsythia band won the best bassist, and Donan of Psychonic band as the best drummer. Altogether, seven bands from Kiphire and Tuensang district participated in the competition. They are Re- evolution band from Kiphire district, Kashrut band Tuensang, Psychonic band Tuensang, Tribal of Nova Tuensang, Poleaxe, Forsythia band Tuensang and Hills fire Tuensang. The three jury board members for the contest were Tohoshe DEO Tuensang, Albert from Dimapur and Temjenmongba of Tuensang. Speaking at the occasion, the chief guest said music plays an important role in promoting the youth in the field of art and music and further encouraged the participants to utilize their talents in a proper way. Satyendra, also lauded the sincere efforts made by the organizing committee to uplift the people in the filed of music and urged to continue their contribution even in future. Meanwhile, the organiers, unemployed youth wing society Tuensang, has expressed gratitude to the co- sponsors Music Task Force, Dr. Nicky Kire, chairman MTF, officers from various department, judges, DPRO Tuensang, 1st AR guest band, contestants and Nagaland Post correspondent for their contribution in making the contest a grand success.
