DNSU tribunals joint consultative meeting: The tribunals of Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has convened a joint consultative meeting on July 4, 5pm at crown hotel, opp. town hall Dimapur. All senior leaders of DNSU particularly general secretaries and speaker have been requested to attend the meeting.
PSU meeting: Philimi Students’ Union (PSU) Dimapur has convened a meeting on July 4, 11am at the residence of Khezheto Kiho near DIS office, Half Nagarjan. All executive and members have been requested to attend the meeting.
Sumi elders Tulunih: Sumi Hoho would be organizing ‘Sumi elders Tulunih’, the premier festival of Sumi tribe on July 8 at Zunheboto, under the theme ‘festival of peace, unity and reconciliation’ with Isak Chishi Swu as Tulunih father. N Kitovi Zhimomi would exhort the festival, Tokheho Yeptho CLP leader, G. Kaito Aye, Minister for R&B, HS Rotokha, former president Sumi Hoho and Aheto Zhimomi chairman SBC would deliver greetings. Meanwhile, all executive members and GBs have been requested to attend the general session (Baghi Hoho) on July 7 at 1pm.
Lamhai Dungki youth camp: Lamhai Dungki Baptist youth department would be organizing a youth camp from July 15-16 under the topics ‘Youth problems and its remedies’ and ‘Characteristics of love’ with Izieteilung treasurer ZBCC and Irui pastor UBC Peren town as resource persons. All youth members have been requested to attend the camp.
YBVSU meeting: Yezutu ‘B’ Village Students’ Union (YBVSU) has convened a meeting on July 9, 10am at the residence of Sukhato K.Yeptho at Yezutu ‘B’ village. All executive members, advisor board, ex-officio, service union Yezutu ‘B’ village, elders and all the citizens have been requested to attend the meeting.
Legal literacy and awareness campaign: Secretary Nagaland Legal Services Authority and additional district session judge, Kohima, Mayang Lima would officially launch the legal literacy and awareness campaign on July 4, 2pm at conference hall of Indian Red Cross building, Kohima. The campaign would be conducted in colleges and higher secondary schools by Kohima Law College in collaboration with Nagaland Legal Services Authority (NLSA) and Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organization (NVCO).
Naghutomi (New) general meeting: The G.Bs and elders of Naghutomi (New) has convened a general meeting on July 9, 2pm at the residence of Kanito Chishi, Hd GB Naghutomi (New). All Naghutomi (New) villagers residing in and around have been requested to attend the meeting.
YCD advocacy meeting: Youngs’ club members with Seloupe village council members, GBs and youth held an advocacy meeting on July 2 in view of the forthcoming two days health camp, which includes orientation workshop on personal responsibility with regard to HIV & AIDS, drugs abuse, social discrimination, free medical camp, blood donation drive, voluntary blood test, counseling and poster campaigning.
23rd Impur A/C NPF general meeting held: The 23rd Impur A/C NPF held a general meeting on June 25 with the view to strengthen the party and to develop the constituency as a whole. The meeting was attended by TN Mannen, CEC cum advisor to party and newly inducted A/C in-charge C. Manen, general secretary Mokokchung division and Lipokyanger, vice president Mokokchung division and all divisional officers from 23rd Impur A/C.
Rotary Club 40th installation ceremony: Rotary Club, Dimapur would be organizing its 40th installation ceremony on July 3, 7pm at Rotary centre, Midland Dimapur with PDG. Rtn. Manas Choudhuri as the chief guest and the installation officer.
SBI ATM operational timing changed: Following attempted robbery at three off-site ATM booths of State Bank of India (SBI) in Kohima, SBI assistant general manager has notified that off-site ATM operational timing has been changed to 6am-6pm for normal days and 6am-2pm for Sundays and other holidays, with immediate effect.
Advocacy programme on HIV & AIDS: Advocacy programme on HIV & AIDS awareness organized by Longsho-ho Youth Alive Mission (LYAM) Chen would be held on July 9, 10:30 am at village council hall Chenwetnyu. MLA and chairman Macrofed Nagaland CL John would be the chief guest, SDO(C) Chen Lungheising as guest of honour and state programme coordinator UNAIDS, legislators forum AIDS nagaland branch Dr. Vinito L Chishi as special guest. The event is supported by United Nation AIDS Legislators Forum AIDS, Nagaland branch.
BYDLD talent-expo cum Bible study: Baptist Youth Department Lamhai Dungki (BYDLD) held talent-expo cum Bible study on the book of Ezekiel on July 1-2. According to the youth department, the program was organized to encourage the young men and women to explore their God given talents as God wants each and every individual of the youngsters to multiply and gain what He had given. Meanwhile the Bible study was led by the youth director who exhorted the youth to meditate on the word of God unceasingly and to utilize their God given talents in the right way to glorify God.
PSU constituent unit: Pertaining to the growing number of students and youth of its community at Kohima, Philimi Student Union (PSU) on June 25 formed its constituent unit at Kohima, to encourage and enhance the upcoming generation. The executive would be headed by Ghukato Shohe as president, Hoinoto Aye, vice president and Zhelitoli Wotsa as general secretary, along with six advisory board members.
KSU seize banned ‘gutkha’: Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) conducted a surprise checking at Mon town and seized banned ‘gutkha’ from shops worth around Rs.50, 000. The seized ‘gutkhas’ were later destroyed at the premises of the union’s office in the presence of NGOs, leaders, general public and student office bearers. The union further warned shopkeepers not to sell ‘gutkhas’ and also cautioned that violators would have to face stern action. Meanwhile, in regard to the complaint against manager of Eastern Book Centre and Glass House Mon for selling toy truck for Rs.200 instead of actual MRP Rs.49, the union said that the manager had confessed and regretted for exploiting innocent customers and promised not to repeat again.
Social work at IPR: A social work was conducted at directorate of Information & Public Relations (IPR) on July 2. The social work was initiated by director IPR, Imokokba, with a view to keep the office complex and surrounding clean specially during monsoon season. The department also planted flowers and hedges in and around the office building. All officers, led by director and staff took part in the social work.
DIPR clarifies : Apropos the news item published in Naga News on June 30 under the caption “Training on office procedure concluded”, the resource person for the training should read as Renchamo Lotha, Rtd. additional secretary from secretariat and not as mentioned.
Training on office procedures: Two-day training on office procedures concluded on June 29 at Wokha. The initiative of the training was undertaken by the district administration in collaboration with district planning and development broad Wokha. Renchamo Lotha, a Rtd. UDA from secretariat was the resource person during the training. Topics during the training were maintaining of service book, leave rules, writing a memorandum, endorsement letter, express letter, text message, telegram, supervision rules, explanation procedures, uses of ink, determination of date of birth, disciplinary action, pension rules, sterilization increment, medical leave, fixation of pay etc. Altogether about 24 topics were covered. The training was earlier inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Rovilatuo Mor on June 28.
Clarification: Apropos the news item ‘DNSU cultural regale’ which was published in the local dailies on July 2, the acronym DNSU should read as ‘Diphupar Naga Student’s Union’ and not as rendered.
Legal awareness programme in Jalukie: The Nagaland State Women Commission (NSWC) would be organizing one day legal awareness programme on July 7 at Jalukie in collaboration with the National Commission for Women, New Delhi. The commission has requested district judiciary, police, medical, education, social welfare, town council/committee, GB Association, Zeliangrong Baudi, Zeliangrong Mipui Organization, Zeliangrong Students Union, Zeliangrong Baptist Church Council, Roman Catholic Association and Christian Revival Church to attend the programme. The commission further requests the participation of three delegates from each village under Peren district, preferably Head GB, Village Council Chairman and Women leader and also the Women Hoho to coordinate in all local arrangement. Bethesda organizes spiritual awakening programme: Winding up the mid term and before the commencement of summer break, Bethesda Higher Secondary School organized spiritual awakening programme for students on June 23 and 24. The programme was divided into summer kids camp for students up to Class VIII and spiritual awakening for students from Class IX to XII. Meanwhile, the activities during the programme included praise and worship by Bethesda worship team, Bible quiz contest, games, workshop on creativity and sharing of word of God.
Training on noting and drafting skills concludes: A three days training on noting and drafting skills at ATI concluded on June 29. Altogether 32 office assistants availed the training. The topics covered during the training were: what is a note and noting, functional approach of file noting, noting skills, draft and different types, drafting skills, things to be avoided in noting and drafting, different forms of communication, exercises and presentations. Director ATI, V. Shashank Shekhar encouraged the participants to be sincere and dedicated in their work for the public. Dr. Hovithal Sothu, state coordinator DMC ATI was the coordinator and the resource person for the training.
Awareness on HIV & AIDS at Wangla village: Mobile ICTC under Turning Point Organization conducted one day awareness programme on HIV and AIDS, STD and substance abuse on June 26 at Wangla village. According to a press release issued by H. Chingying, director Turning Point Organization, the main objective of the programme was to sensitize HRGs and youth on HIV and AIDS, STI and substance abuse, the route of transmission and its preventive measures and impact on healthy life in the society. The programme was followed by counseling and blood testing among participants. Meanwhile, the organization has informed that free medicines and treatment for STI are available at Mobile ICTC and Civil Hospital Mon
New president and vice president for state SJP: Socialist Janata Party (SJP) state in an executive meeting held on June 28 has unanimously conferred the post of president SJP state unit to Jolling and C. Meren Longkumer as vice president. Meanwhile, Akai Achumi vice president national, welcoming the newly inducted officials, hoped that they would continue to discharge their assigned duties in the larger interest of the party as well the state. Further, the newly inducted state unit president requested the party officials and his colleagues to continue their co-operation in order to uplift the party to a greater height for the welfare of general populace. T. Kiuta secretary general SJP also exhorted the house to remain dedicated to their work and to set SJP as a model party in the days to come.
