GPRN/NSCN has expressed profound gratitude to Sumi Hoho for the special invitation extended to its ato kilonser N.Kitovi Zhimomi for the July 8 Tuluni festival celebrations in Zunheboto town. The MIP said the occasion was not only for celebration but an opportunity for all distinguished Sumi leaders to come together in strengthening the common vision of the Nagas. It said “a strong Sumi society will an asset to the common vision of the Nagas” and pointed that “ Sumi people and Indo-Naga political struggle will forever be synonymous with each other.”
MIP said Naga history acknowledged the crucial role played by Sumis in battling “the overwhelming military might of India”. It also said Sumis can play “a positive role”in both peace and war. MIP said as the FNR was “waging for peace in Naga homeland”, all Sumi frontal organizations, church, NGOs and elders would need great courage, to guide the Sumi people to tread the path of peace and unity in consonance with the wishes of the Naga people.
It also recalled the speech made by its ato kilonser Kitovi Zhimomi on the July 8 Tuluni celebrations at Zunheboto, wherein he pointed that confusion among Sumis in the post-expulsion of Khaplang, was compounded by “few emotional and ambitious Sumis”using the name of Khaplang (whom it criticized for being oblivious to the happenings in Nagaland) “to further their own interests”. MIP said a progressive Sumi society “must not become a victim of propaganda churned out by Suruhuto Camp”.
