Khaplang initiated Naga reconciliation: NSCN/GPRN (K)

NSCN/GPRN has reasserted its position to the Nagas, that unity and reconciliation among Naga political parties/government was “inevitable” as prelude to meaningful dialogue. Towards this, the MIP said its chairman S.S. Khaplang took the first step to initiate the Naga Reconciliation process (in November 2007) to shun violence and fratricide, after a long spell of bloodshed among Naga brothers.
It said though effort for unification and reconciliation was “roughly rocked”on many occasion, it stood the test and with FNR taking over the process, substantial progress was made.
The MIP said the repeated claims by “Khehoi campers” that S.S. Khaplang was expelled for “harboring antagonism towards FNR’s efforts” bore no credibility and not supported by facts or proof. Instead, MIP said, they (Khehoi camp) “should cower in shame and dishonour for the betrayal of trust.”
MIP asserted, that it was Khaplang who signed the Covenant of Reconciliation (CoR) in person “despite the IM’s unilateral abrogation of the covenant” by attacking NSCN/GPRN forces in eastern Nagaland during the first part of 2011.It said the NSCN/GPRN, as per the presidential decree, did not “retract or backtrack” from its commitment to uphold the CoR.
MIP said even when Khaplang was prevented by “IM from attending the scheduled highest-level meeting” with old comrades- Isak Chishi and ‘brig’ Shingya, he remained resolute by not parting with the FNR despite practical inability to attend the meet on account of threats to his life.
It went on to say that Kitovi and his followers should clarify to the Nagas as under whose leadership had they been serving and participating in the peace process till June 7, 2011 if Khaplang had not signed the covenant?
Further, it said Kitovi need to recollect his comments and speeches made in public and official functions of the NSCN/GPRN till June 7,2011, where he “elucidated his president S.S.Khaplang’s sincerity and commitment” to peace under whose committed leadership, reality of peace and unity was bound on Nagas. These being official comments and statements and once documented “can never be erased from history”, it said.
MIP appreciated FNR’s role but reminded “Khehoi gang” that the FNR is not a political entity but a facilitator and pathfinder amidst chaos and distrust.
MIP said to its understanding, FNR’s objective was to restore normalcy, trust and sense of belonging among various Naga political entities where peace was a process
that needed constant handling and care and therefore FNR urged continue to nurture peace process.
Whereas the “Khehoi gang” described as “non entities, non-issued based and most crucial, devoid of Nagas’ political or historical foundation” had no option but to cling to the FNR, merely to emphasize its existence and “prolong the profitable business activities under FNR’s refuge and asked “how long can they fool the Nagas”?
The MIP said Khehoi camp “in their haste to accept financial largesse, economic package, rehabilitation from the government of India” seceded from the NSCN/GPRN (K) including true nationalists and on realization of the “betrayal” have retreated to “treason altogether” and as a “final face saving ploy” were trying to direct attention of Nagas by accusing Khaplang of not being responsive to peace overtures”. It said this “was a preposterous and childish humour” as it was only with the prior consent of Khaplang that NSCN/GPRN “has been a party to FNR’s CoR”.
