Ghowoto village council (GVC) Wednesday claimed that its villager was attacked by a group of armed miscreants from Jalukielo July 10, but “luckily escaped unharmed.”
According to GVC chairman Phuhoto Zhimo said the incident occurred when the villager was on his way to meet the workers employed to look after farm located few hundred meters from the village. The council chairman said soon after the incident the matter was reported to IRB personnel stationed at the village, who immediately responded by visiting the spot, however, those miscreants fled from the sight by the time IR jawans reached the spot.
Stating that Ghowoto villagers, in adherence to DC Dimapur order dated July 1, 2011 which directed the villagers not to cross one kilometer away from the village, has been tolerating the inconvenience and retraining themselves from not even going to fields, the GVC said, however, miscreants from Jalukielo, taking advantage of the order, have started venturing and attacking Ghowoto villagers even within the village area.
The GVC questioned responsible authority whether Peren district administration also issued the same restraining order to Jalukielo village.
It said if restraining order was issued then why was responsible authority allowing miscreants from Jalukilo village to violate the said restraining order by provoking and attacking villagers. The council chairman said if the order was not issued to Jalukielo village then restraining order issued on them should be revoked immediately since Jalukilo villagers were encroaching, provoking and attacking Ghowoto villagers and not vice versa.
Stating that government should not tie up the hands of Ghowoto villagers and allow free hand to Jalukilo village, the GVC demanded the government to station IRB personnel at district border area to prevent provocation.
Further, the council said upon failure to meet their demand they would have no option but violate the order and flush out armed intruders.
“Ghowoto villagers have tolerated enough and the government and those miscreants shall be held entirely responsible for any untoward incident arising out of the act of self defense by Ghowoto village,” the council chairman said.
