River Plate Club, one of the oldest and largest clubs in Mokokchung town celebrated silver jubilee on Saturday on the theme ‘Excel with pride’.
In commemoration of the jubilee, the club constructed a public waiting shed near DC’s office, which was inaugurated by Alemtemshi Jamir (IAS) Addl. Chief Secretary & Development Commissioner, who was the chief guest at the event. Alemtemshi congratulated the club for their glorious completion of twenty five years of yeomen service to the society.
He urged the club to further continue to contribute to the society in the future too, and lauded them for producing many talented sportspersons and for acting as a platform to promote and create opportunity for the youngsters.
Deputy commissioner, Mokokchung, Lithrongla Chishi in her speech while congratulating the club, appreciated them for constructing the waiting shed, stating it was a much needed move and encouraged the club to continue with their selfless contribution for the society.
She also promised the district administration would always be there to assist the club in their constructive activities. Short speeches were delivered by Chairman of Penli Ward and special songs sung by the Sister Six Group and Ajungla Ozukum.
