Co-ordination meeting of Landowners’ union of Doyang hydro-electric project, Wokha, head of project (HoP) and sub-ordinates DHEP, NEEPCO, Doyang, Wokha was held on July 20 at DHEP, NEEPCO Ltd at Doyang Wokha conference hall.
According to a press release issued by Roland Ezung, spokesman cum press secretary, LOU, DHEP, Doyang, Wokha, the meeting decided to withdraw the petition filed in the high court by former team of LOU, DHEP., which was filed for failure to implement MoU and to eliminate DHEP affected local employees by DHEP, NEEPCO Ltd authorities.
However, the release said, the case may be reconsidered with a fresh petition after giving specified time to NEEPCO Ltd. for amicable settlement, stated the spokesman.
The meeting discussed the urgent need in solving the landowners’ issue, improvement of all-round activities at the site and for addressing the grievances of the affected landowners.
Welcoming the two party officials, the head of project (HoP), DHEP, NEEPCO, Doyang expressed appreciation for offering a platform to share the problems, loopholes and coordination gap between landowners and DHEP, NEEPCO Ltd. Doyang. HoP conveyed that NEEPCO would give utmost cooperation to the leadership of Y. Odyuo for redressal of the land donors’ “untold and unshared problems” in future.
The members attending the meeting expressed the need to give attention to the existing obstruction due to land disputes for early permanent settlement of land dispute at the disputes involved new villages which were unrecognized by DHEP, NEEPCO Ltd till date including Mukhami, Philimi in Zunheboto district and Okotso, Akuk and Mekokla in Wokha district and other recognized villages, P. Roland Ezung, spokesperson-cum-press secretary of the land owners’ union stated.
The meeting also highlighted the necessity to construct weather roads along the entire water reservoir to be used as economic road for various incomes generating purposes and generation of self employments for the Project affected people/Villages through Agri, Horti, fishing, tourisms etc., by seeking assistance from the state government and NEEPCO Ltd.
The meeting further discussed that the existing roads within the project should be widened to reduce risks and easy passages for all round work activities and a suitable arrangement for electrification of the affected villages to eradicate the present power shortages.
