Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) Monday decided to temporarily suspend picketing on the office of Chief Engineer (Power), AG colony Kohima.
Talking to Nagaland Post, NSF education secretary Chipakhuyi Rhakho said the decision was taken at the NSF executive meeting on Monday afternoon.
It was also learnt that, earlier in the day, power department officials and the NSF held a meeting at the chief minister office’s (CMO) Kohima.
The department was led by commissioner & secretary, L. Kire, chief engineer Er. D. Basumatari and another officer while the NSF team was led by vice president Sinhilo Thong and five executives.
The power department had given a “written assurance” to the NSF that it will fulfill its demands but did not specify any time frame.
NSF has asked the power department to send requisition of post vacancies to the NPSC to conduct examinations within 30 days, starting from July 26, adding if the department failed to pay act, then it would re-start agitation after expiry of the deadline.
Naga Students’ Federation had been picketing the office of the Chief Engineer (Power) since July 20 last after the department failed to respond to NSF ‘representation’ submitted to the Power Minister on June 14.
In the memorandum NSF denounced backdoor and urged the government to immediately cancel the appointments and send requisition to the NPSC within five days in the interest of educated unemployed and qualified Naga youth.
