A three-day UGC sponsored national seminar on “Contemporary Commonwealth Literature in English: Concepts, Techniques and Trends” started July 27 at Mount Olive College, Kohima.
H.K. Khulu, IAS, APC & Principal Secretary, Agriculture, Govt. of Nagaland, Kohima was the chief guest and Dr. A. J. Sebastian Sdb, department of English, Nagaland University gave the key note address at the inaugural session of the seminar.
Khulu dwelt on the significance of English saying it is an indispensable language in this modern world and lamented on lack of quality education in spite of the number of graduates produced every year in Nagaland. At the inaugural session K.N. Chishi, secretary, law & justice and chairman, governing body, Mt. Olive College Kohima (MOCK) led the programme, invocation prayer pronounced by Botoholi K. Achumi, Chaplain, (MOCK), welcome address delivered by Dr. Narendra Tiwary, Principal MOCK, special song presented by MOCK students, vote of thanks by Swedezhono Tsukru, vice-principal.
Later MOCK souvenir was released by the chief guest. Participants from Assam, Maharastra, West Bengal, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh with 15 resource persons, 13 lecturers from different colleges and 45 students from MOCK are attending the programme.
