Leaders from various organizations and Dimapur district administration at the farewell programme organized on Thursday praised the outgoing deputy commissioner, Dimapur Maongwati Aier for his excellent, strong administration and sound judgment in critical situations.
Speaking at the farewell programme organized for the outgoing DC and administrative officers, Dimapur at DC’s office conference hall SP Dimapur Z. Mero said Maongwati was a God fearing man and this quality made him a good administrator.
“He teaches us what to do in a different situation and tackle in a cool manner”, recalled SP Dimapur.
Praising the out going DC for his excellent tactics and also appreciating others for their good work, Mero said DC’s encouraging words often lifted the morale of Dimapur police and thus enabled them to perform their duties well.
He also congratulated all the outgoing administrative officers and conveyed his best wishes on their new assignments.
DMC chief advisor K. Keditsu while lauding the contributions made by Maongwati to the people of Dimapur, said Maongwati, as a young and energetic administrator, was able to thwart unwanted situations from taking place during his tenure due to his self organized decision making process.
It may be noted that Maongwati took over as DC Dimapur on April 24, 2008 when Dimapur was reeling under bloodshed.
In his three years stint, apart from developmental activities, many unwanted activities like fratricidal killings, kidnappings, illegal collections of taxes, etc., were reduced, as per the NGOs, Hohos, district administration, unions/associations and general public.
Maongwati would take over new assignment as Commissioner of Excise from July 30 onwards, and replaced by the new DC, N. Husheli Sema IAS, secretary women development.
Outgoing DC Dimapur, Maongwati in his brief speech said when he took over as DC Dimapur, there were bloodshed everywhere and Dimapur was like a “war zone”.
He reminded the gathering that killings and unwanted activities were reduced and peace could prevail because he kept faith in the Lord, while performing his duties. For this, he appealed the gathering to trust in the Lord, in order to bring permanent peace in Nagaland.
“It is only through the Prince of Peace, peace will prevail”, he said. He also pointed out team work as another major element which made it possible for peace to prevail during his tenure.
“I joined the office when there when there was bloodshed, but now I am departing this office where there is sunshine”, he beaned.
Naga Women Hoho, Naga Council, GBs Association Dimapur, Dimapur District Sports Council, Dimapur Club, Indian Red Cross Society, Dimapur and DP & DB in their short speeches praised the out going Deputy Commissioner for his magnificent service to the people.
A short message on behalf of DCCI was read out by ADC Dimapur, Sedevikho Khro. Speeches on behalf of ministerial staff and DBs were delivered by Viholi office superintendent and Ilung Phom head DB Sadar.
On the occasion, outgoing administrative officers under of DC’s office Dimapur – Imtirenla Jamir, revenue officer, Dimapur promoted as CEO Dimapur Municipal Council, Wennyie Konyak EAC (establishment) promoted as SDO Kohima and Dr. Tinu Jongshi Chang EAC promoted as SDO (C) Pungro were also felicitated. CEO Dimapur Municipal Council, Nikhashe who is posted as joint secretary Urban Development-cum-CEO Kohima were also feted.
Hotolu Swu SDO (C) Dimapur promoted as ADC Niuland was not present at the function.
