Armed miscreants on a bike, looted cash and valuables after waylaying two journalists of Nagaland Post who were walking to their nearby home, near Metro Hospital at around 10 p.m. Saturday. The miscreants, claiming to be from “Unification group” told the journalists that the situation was bad and they were “duty bound” to ask for their ID cards. When the two journalists disclosed they were returning back from work, the miscreants, one whose head was covered with white cloth (bandana), retorted by asking which faction they were from and why were they roaming around at night. Under the pretext of frisking, the miscreants rummaged their wallets, handbag and took away all cash and valuables including mobile phones at gunpoint.
The two motor bike-borne miscreants, one of who had a pistol– wearing a black vest, came from Metro hospital side. When the journalists asked back their mobile phones, the miscreants warned they would be taken “to their camp”.
It may be mentioned that the particular area from Metro Hospital-Supply Colony and Link Road have become a favourite haunt of miscreants who snatch watches and valuables from pedestrians. A complaint has been lodged with the police for necessary action.
