State chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Monday inaugurated the NEC funded `7.50 crore multi storeyed Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) in Mokokchung.
Speaking at the inauguration of ISBT, Rio called the people particularly the Khensa villagers to take the responsibility in making the atmosphere conducive. He also said that the ISBT at Mokokchung should serve not just the NST but also the private operators. He also called the people to make the travelers and passengers convenient by introducing various services like taxi and other amenities.
He also said that the people should not feel that ISBT is far away from the main town but that it should be viewed as an opportunity for employment for the youth. He also expressed his hope that through this ISBT, communication will much better and travelers and business will boom.
Rio also sought active cooperation from public in maintaining public assets created by the government saying that such assets are for the welfare and benefits of the people.
He urged for the full utilization of the potential of this ISBT and wished that travelling be made a pleasure to the weary travelers.
Advisor Planning, North East Council, J. Lhungdim IDAS, in his speech said NEC was granting fund for construction of ISBT in North East.
He said Sikkim has made remarkable achievements in construction of ISBT followed by Nagaland. Lhungdim assured that NEC would continue to provide fund to the State to expedite over all development of the State.
Parliamentary Secretary, Transport & Mechanical Engineering Dako Phom who was the guest of honour at the inaugural function said, ISBT Mokokchung is the second ISBT in the state after Dimapur and the third ISBT in Kohima would soon be completed while the fourth ISBT in Tuensang is progressing well.
In his welcome address, Lanukaba, President, Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industries said that the ISBT, Mokokchung should not be left like a haunted place. He felt that all buses and taxis should be allowed to operate from the ISBT. He hoped that it would ease traffic congestion in the town.
The inaugural function was chaired by deputy commissioner Mokokchung Lithrongla G. Ghishi was attended by home minister Imkong L. Imchen, Dr. Chumben Murry, minister for agriculture, Nuklutoshi MLA and Toshipokba MLA, senior officials and the public.
