Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Phek (NRC on Mithun) conducted its 5rd scientific advisory committee (SAC) meeting on August 3 at Conference hall, T. Chikri, CBCC, Pfutsero. The meeting was chaired by Dr. K.K Baruah, Principal Scientist, NRC on Mithun and co-chaired by Dr. U.S. Saha, GM, NABARD.
Other members present in the meeting were District Veterinary Officer, District Project Officer, LRD, District Soil Conservation Officer, APMC Chairman and Vice Chairman, Officials of NOAHGRANDPA, Officials from Dept. of Fishery, President, Phek District Farmers Union, Executive Director, CWWS, Progressive farmers and farm women from different villages. Dr. R. K.Singh, P.C, KVK Phek, welcomed the members and gave details of programme schedule. Dr. K.K Baruah explained the importance of SAC meeting and suggested the members to put their inputs for formulating the target activities.
Dr. U. S. Saha, GM, NABARD urged KVK for imparting training and demonstrations on need based technologies. The objectives of the meeting were to review the achievements of different disciplines during 2010-11 and to formulate the action plan for the year 2011-12. Dr. R. K. Singh, Programme coordinator, KVK Phek presented the previous years achievements and action plan for 2011-12 to the house. Er. Chitrasen Lairenjam presented the activities of KVK in collaboration with NABARD.
Villages lauds Vety & AH dept
Kohima: Community of N. Longidang lauded the department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry for selecting N. Longidang for Mithun rearing project which is first of its kind under Wokha district .
A meeting was held on July 26 at village community hall and the members present advertently accepted the project and appreciated the department’s goodwill gesture. In a release, seasonal project chairman Zantsemo Ngullie said the department aimed to promote the project in the community project as an incentive for livelihood promotion, conservation of forest and facilitate regeneration of degraded forest.
