APPRISE HM ON STATE ISSUES; SEEK NEW PROJECTS, FUNDS
Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio, accompanied by other cabinet colleagues apprised union home minister P. Chidambaram on the situation in Nagaland such as the demand for a separate state by Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) and the state government’s stand including the state government’s proposal for granting autonomous council for ENPO area.
The state cabinet delegation also apprised Chidambaram on the Inavi issue, law and order situation and problems connected with maintenance of cease fire ground rules, especially in the context of the recent split in the NSCN (K).
Stating this, a communiqué issued by state chief secretary Lalthara also disclosed that the cabinet apprised union home minister, P. Chidambaram on the steps taken by the state government to address the genuine grievances of the people in Eastern Nagaland and instituting a high level official committee headed by the chief secretary, consequent constitution of five cabinet subcommittees on various sectors, most of which had already submitted their findings and recommendation to the state cabinet.
In response, union home minister, P. Chidambaram suggested ways by which the state government could address the problem of less development in Eastern Nagaland and also expressed his willingness to extend all possible help and financial assistance for the purpose.
The communiqué also stated that the cabinet delegation apprised the home minister of the need for setting up central institutions such as-medical college, a central regional police training institute at Razaphema and need for construction of battalion headquarters for Nagaland Police Battalions.The cabinet also urged for early reimbursement of security-related expenditures etc.
Chief minister Neiphiu Rio was accompanied by cabinet ministers– T.R. Zeliang, Imkong L.Imchen, Nyeiwang Konyak, Kaito Aye, M.C Konyak, P.Longon, Kuzhuluzo Neinu, Doshehe, Dr. Chumben Murry and Dr. Ngangshi Ao.
