SETAM to hold ‘unlimited’ agitation

Alleging that Nagaland University has failed to fulfil its demand, SETAM engineering students’ council (SESC) said it would be holding “unlimited agitation” from August 11 till its demand was fulfilled.
SETAM engineering students’ council president Menyawongto and general secretary Jungshimanen Tzudir in a press release reiterated that despite assurance to meet its grievances on different occasions, the university failed to fulfill its demands.
According to SESC, on February 8, Dr. R.C Dean SASRD assured to fulfil their demands by end of July in the current semester and on February 9, Dr. Tongpang, director college development council and Dr. Temjen deputy librarian NU even discussed issues pertaining to its demand.
SSETAM engineering students’ council highlighted that even after receiving assurance, 60% of the students were not provided with hostel facilities, practical equipments supposed to be delivered at SETAM by the first week of April.
Though students were paying more than Rs. 30,000 annually which include practical course, SESC said facilities are not made available.
SETAM engineering students’ council further cautioned that students were not ready to negotiate unless their demands were implemented.
