The main accused of July 22 ‘attempted murder’ of a woman in Viswema village, identified as one Purakhu (45) was found dead in a decomposed state near a stream, Saturday.
Police said the decomposed body of Purakhu was found by the villagers after a foul smell emanated from the area. The decomposed body was later identified as that of Purakhu from the long pant and the belt he wore.
It was also learnt that after completing all the formalities, the deceased was buried at the spot as the decomposed body could not be removed from the site.
It may be mentioned that Purakhu critically injured one Puchozole (27) with a dao (machete) at the latter’s house on July 22 last and since then went missing. Police along with the villagers had earlier launched a manhunt to nab the culprit but failed as the accused was said to have fled towards the nearby jungle.
