State Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Monday, in addressed at the Secretariat plaza, Kohima on the occasion Independence Day, announced several new plans of his government.New projects including other announcements included:
- Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) to be established at Dimapur.
- NIT to be shifted from its temporary campus at Silchar to Chumukedima, during the current year.
- IT sector: Implementing Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) – a project that will network all the police station in the country for information sharing.
- E-Governance initiatives such as Common Services Centers, setting up of State Data Center and State Wide Area Network (SWAN) all in advanced stages of completion.
- State Portal and State Service Delivery Gateway have been initiated.
- Mobile Service Delivery Platform (MSDP) for delivering government services over the mobile phone has been established.
- Agri and allied: “Food for all by 2020” and food grain production, target this years is 4 lakh 93 thousand metric tons, 120 watershed development being set up in the state.
- Deptt of I&FC: Under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP), Bharat Nirman, the dept is taking up 200 new MI projects during 2011-12 to cover 8000 hectares.
- 56 Agri-Link roads, covering 280 kms, being covered with NABARD funding and under “Organic Cluster Project” about 1000 hectares. Expected to be completed during 2011-2012.
- PHE deptt: Water pumping to Kohima from Zarü source being taken up. Expected to be completed by 2012 end.
- Transport deptt: Kohima Metro Ropeway project has been initiated.
- Art & culture deptt: To set up “Rani Gaidinliu Library cum Memorial Museum”.
- Two Academies for archery and cricket to be set up in the state.
- Under the Skill Development Mission, the state has initiated the process of establishing five new polytechnics at Phek, Wokha, Tuensang, Mon and Dimapur.
- Power deptt: Newly upgraded sub-station at Kiphire has been commissioned. This will enable Likimro Hydel project to generate full capacity of 24 MW during monsoon.
- Labour & Employment deptt: To open new employment exchanges at Longleng, Kiphire and Peren.
- DUDA: To take up schemes worth of Rs. 61 crore under BADP and under Special Infrastructure Fund during 2011-12.
- Soil testing laboratories being set up in all the districts.
- Food and civil supplies department: Fair Price Shops (FPS) status to all village councils.
- V&AH deptt: Mithun Development being implemented to promote meat and forest conservation. 25 villages from 9 districts are being covered.
- Rural development: MGNREGA scheme wage rate has been enhanced from Rs 100 per day to Rs 118.
- 3 lakh fifty thousand job cards issued and 334 lakh mandays of employment generated in the last financial year.
- Sericulture department: Mini Spun Mill to be established at Dimapur during 2011-12.
- Heath Sector: Department has recruited 1700 ASHAs and is setting up 24 x 7 Health Helpline to provide easy access to reliable health information.
- Honorarium to Anganwadi Workers has been enhanced from Rs.1, 500 to Rs.3, 000 per month and for Anganwadi Helpers from Rs. 750 to Rs.1500 per month with effect from April 1, 2011.
- Two more CSS are being started – RGSEAG and IGMSY for pregnant women and lactating mothers which will provide financial assistance of Rs 4000 per beneficiary as maternity benefit.
- Helipads at Alichen, Pfutsero, Longleng and Peren to be completed year end. Survey for creation of air strips in Mokochung, Mon, Tuensang and Meluri to be taken up during current year.
- Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) at Kohima to be inaugurated. Another ISBT at Tuesnang in good progress.
- Road: Under the SARDP for North East, 329 kilometres of roads being upgraded to 2-laning covering Mon-Tamlu-Merangkong road, Longleng-Changtongya road, Zunheboto-Chakhabama road and Phek-Pfutsero road.
- School education: Under the RMSA programme all newly upgraded high schools are provided with one headmaster, seven teachers and supporting non-teaching staffs, in addition to financial grants for construction of additional class rooms.
- NBSE has introduced common core syllabus for science and commerce streams in Class XI from the current academic and for Class XII from 2012 session.
- Old Age Pension to more than 40,000 has been recently enhanced from Rs. 200 to Rs. 500 per month.
