A silent procession participated by around 5000 people was organized by the Longkhim Division Students Union(LDSU) at Longkhim town Thursday, to express strong condemnation over the killing of Seopi Sangtam on August 6 in Dimapur .
After the silent procession, a brief programme was held where short speeches were delivered by leaders of the area including chairman LDSU, secretary ALCC, executive secretary United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC), chairman PHSNS, president GB’s Union, president AST Longkhim Unit, executive member USLP.
The speakers condemned the ‘barbaric act’ and cold blooded murder of late Seopi and appealed to the law enforcing agencies to book the culprit(s) at the earliest. They also expressed gratitude to ENPUD, SPFDA, USLP and USSC for their efforts in bringing the remains of late Seopi from Dimapur to the native village.
Following the programme, LDSU also submitted a representation to ADC Longkhim.
Further, the USSC, LDSU and Chare Area Students’ Union (CASU) have affirmed to support the memorandum submitted by ENPUD to the state government, and appealed to the government to meet with the same at the earliest.
Meanwhile, in Chare, around 1000 people consisting of GB’s Union Chare Area, USLP, AST Chare area, various councils under Chare area, high school Chare and Shuzong School Chare students and staffs, Adhoc Town Committee and general public of Chare village, town and old town participated in a silent procession Thursday, showing their solidarity against the killing of late Seopi Sangtam.
The procession, organized by CASU, was also followed by a short programme chaired by CASU executive secretary Alem Thong while union president Ithrong highlighted the significance of the procession.
Short speeches were delivered by representatives of USSC, USLP, GBs Union, AST and NPF vice president Tuensang Division Tsinghose.
CASU has extended gratitude to participants of the program and further expressed hope that unity amongst the people would be strengthened.
