All Nagaland Ad hoc Teachers’ Association (ANATU) Saturday said it has resolved to temporarily call off its indefinite peaceful agitation as government has assured to address its demands.
Decision to call off the agitation was taken at union executive meeting in the conference hall of DSE, Kohima August 19, they said. According ANTAU president Neizevotuo Nakhro and treasurer Yashi, the government has assured that the process of regularisation of ad hoc teachers, who have qualified in suitability test in the year 2010, would be completed within one month.
Appreciating the government for acknowledging their genuine rights, the union expressed hope that government would not disappoint the “genuine ad hoc teachers” again. ANATU also thanked all its members and unit presidents for their support throughout the agitation. Besides, the union expressed gratitude to all responsible for their cooperation. Meanwhile, the union has expressed regret that security personnel deputed were inefficient, alleging they “launched random attack” on the innocent teachers and general public instead of controlling “handful agitators” who were shouting for their rights after the agitation. “Such inhuman acts of security personnel should be condemned by every one,” ANATU leaders said.
