Two-day training programme on prevention and control of malaria organised by Caritas India and Development Association of Nagaland in collaboration with National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, Government of India was held on August 18 and 19 at DAN office, Dimapur.
The training was given to 2nd batch of 22 Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) of Development Association of Nagaland who were selected from different villages under Intensified Malaria Control Programme II project intervention villages under Dimapur District and ASHA workers of the state.
Resource persons for the training were Dr. Simon, assistant director, Atu Longkumer, assistant Entomologist, Amulya Meer, Lab. Technician and S. Naro, SFW from NVBDCP, Dimapur District.
Meanwhile, training for first batch of 16 community health volunteers was held on August 4 and 5.
The training programme was inaugurated by Dr. Sukhato A. Sema, chief medical officer, Dimapur district.
Resource persons were Dr. Moa, District programme Officer, Tali, Zonal Entomologist, Kiko, assistant Entomologist, Rokho, MTS, Alemla, Lab. Technician and Asenla, MPW from NVBDCP, Dimapur.
CHVs were trained on prevention and control of malaria, how to conduct rapid diagnostic test for all fever cases and behavioral change communication on malaria. After the training, Community Health Volunteerswere given RDT kits along with medicine for treating PF malaria cases in their own villages.
The chairperson for both the training programmes was Ng. Phuba James, district Project Officer, GFATM round 9 intensified malaria control programme II, DAN, Nagaland.
