Malaria control trg held

The India Caritas and Development Association of India in collaboration with National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme conducted training programmes on intensified malaria control and prevention for community health volunteers (CHV) and ASHA workers.
The trainings were held at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima; Chiephobozou Badminton Stadium and Sanis Community Hall under Wokha district.

Altogether, 53 CHVs and ASHA workers from Kohima district and 35 in Sanis attended the training. The training in Kohima district was facilitated by Dr. Atsungla, DPO, NVBDCO, Teso Angami, assistant Malaria Officer, J. Asungba, lab technician, Suhozo, MTS and Tia, MTS Kohima. While in Wokha district, the training was led by Dr. Zuben Kikon, DPO NVBDCP, Theja Angami MTS Wokha, Abdul lab technician, Bhandari, Robin, assistant lab technician Bhandari.

Topics on conduct of rapid diagnostic test, collection of blood smears and behavioural change communication were discussed.
The trainings were organized with an aim to train and prepare CHVs and ASHA workers to carryout work effectively in village level with the objective to reduce mortality and morbidity by 30% by 2015 through means of prevention and control.
