The first ever top leaders Baptist convention of entire North East India concluded on August 27. One hundred thirty five (135) leaders from Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal, North Bank (Assam) Bodoland (Assam) Karbi Anglong and Assam Baptist Convention and Nagaland, and representing 13 Conventions, over 8000 churches and about 1.3 million baptized members gathered from August 24 – 27 at Jubilee Memorial Centre, Lerie for a time of sharing and consultation on Mission under the theme “Strengthen the good work” 2 Thes. 2:17.
The resources were Rev. Dr. Fausto Vasconcelos, Director of Mission, Evangelism & Theological Reflection, Baptist World Alliance, Rev. Bonny Resu, General Secretary, Asia Pacific Baptist Federation (APBF), Rev. Dr. Timothy Lee, Chairman, Mission & Evangelism, (APBF), Rev. Chris Barnden, Director of Ministries of Global Interactions, Australian Baptist Churches, Rev. Dr. Laiu Fachhai, Director of Serving In Mission North East India (SIMNEI) The programme was organized by the Asia Pacific Baptist Federation (APBF) and hosted by the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC). The meeting concluded with a poignant service, which included the “feet washing ceremony” and the “Kohima Declaration”. The declaration made strong emphasis on the need for the Baptist family to work in close coordination and partnership with each other.
