Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tuensang conducted one-day awareness -cum-training programme on plant protection variety and farmer’s right act on September 7 at CKS Hall Tuensang. The training was imparted to 29 extension functionaries. L. Butang, DAO stressed on importance of conserving germplasm and documentation of farmer’s variety.
Master trainers at the technical session were Martina SMS (Gen. & Plant Breeding) and Achuchu Khate SMS (Horticulture). The topics covered during this session include “Plant Protection Variety & Farmers Right Act” and “Seed Production Technology in Vegetable Crops.” KVK Programme coordinator Dr. Kevi khate urged extension functionaries to protect and preserve local germplasm to avoid exploitation by others.
