‘International Day of Older Persons’ was celebrated at Sanis organized by the department of social welfare in collaboration with administration and medical department On October 1. Mhathung Tsanglao SDO (C) Sanis was the chief guest and Dr. Chumthungo was the resource person.
Speaking on the occasion, Mhathung spoke about the important role of older persons in bringing about positive changes in the society. In the present context, he said there was a generation gap between the old and young and that the old must infuse the values essential to build a healthy and vibrant society.
Meanwhile resource person, Dr. Chumthungo deliberated on health care issues of older persons keeping in account the prevailing health problems of the area.
Altogether more than hundreds of older persons participated. The oldest male and female of the day was presented with a token of respect and appreciation by the chief guest.
