CCTV system installed in the premises of business establishments helped Dimapur police nab two persons involved in separate cases.
According to Dimapur police PRO, the first arrest was made on October 11 when the accused had gone to the SBI (Main Branch) for cash transaction. He was under police scanner for involvement in an earlier fraudulent drawal of Rs.2 lakh with fake cheques and forged signature on September 28 from SBI (Main branch).
Police said the accused, identified as one Mhao Yanthan (27), son of Nchunbemo of Niroyo village, Wokha and a resident of Duncan Bosti, Dimapur, was arrested on the basis of CCTV footages installed in the bank.
Police said the accused admitted to the crime and based on his revelation, the money he had withdrawn was recovered and handed over to the rightful owner. Police registered a case of forgery against the accused.
In another incident, a former employee of “Space M”, mobile shop, was arrested on a complaint of having stolen over Rs. 5 lakh in cash and cheque from the shop on October 8 between 9.30 p.m.to 10 p.m.
The CCTV footage caught the accused in the act police said. The accused identified as one Sukhaho Zhimo (27), son of Vekato of Ghukiye village, Zunheboto and a resident of Purana Bazar was arrested from Nehoto village, police added.
On the revelation of the accused, police said the stolen money was recovered. It was later returned to the rightful owner and a case of house-breaking with the intention of committing theft was registered against the accused.
