Come October 28, 6pm and all roads would lead to NE Agri Expo ground, 4th Mile Dimapur, for the 2nd North East Super Model Contest 2011.
Altogether 18 of the best models of the northeastern states including Sikkim would vie for the coveted title which is being supported by Department of Planning and Co-ordination, GoN, and co-sponsored by North Eastern Council (NEC), GoI.
Staging as an event to showcase the talent of beauty through competitions, diversified culture and unique clothing of the region, the contest is also powered with a view to give a purpose to the evening as the substance of the theme “Culture & Couture-Synchronizing Faces, Fashion and Feminism” itself depicts the harmony of indigenous and Mongolian features; combined with traditional and modern attires of the northeastern region while uniting for women empowerment.
With Hotel Saramati, under the aegis of Nagaland Hotels Limited (NHL), collaborating in as the Hospitability Partner for the entire event, the girls who are lodged there will be groomed by resource persons on dinning etiquettes, beauty tips and outings which are also included in their itinerary during the following days before the d-day.
The second NE Supermodel contest in Dimapur is being represented by three contestants each from Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, two representatives each from Mizoram and Assam and one representative each from Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura.
On October 25, the 18 hopeful girls were taken to Niathu Resort where the official photo session was held. The photo session was choreographed by Charlee, a renowned personality from Mizoram who also owns Heritage Mizoram (Handlooms and Handicrafts), an inhouse production unit in Aizwal, and a regular face in the fashion scenario. He also had shows in Kolkota, Shillong, Mumbai and Delhi.
The contest which is being organized by Ethnic Group of Nagaland (EGoN) ensures a show that surpasses the normal beauty pageants and an evening of pure glitz and glamour will also feature some of the most filtered artistes of the region who had made a niche for themselves in national and international circuit. Opening act and the Formal round will be performed by Nise Meruno (Zowe Madrigal).
Other celebrated artistes would include Mami Varte and Faith in Action Team.
EGoN will also be introducing Opangtongdang (Mr. India Earth 2011-12) and Alino Sumi (Miss Dimapur 2011 runners-up).
The overall show will be choreographed by Esther Jamir, Supermodel and show directed by Toshizen Longkumer. Official designer for the event will be Kahuli Sumi.
Stage gear for the mega event will be managed by Aries Music and Sports Foundation.
Miss Nagaland 2011, Miss Dimapur 2011 and 2009 would also make special appearances.
Esteemed judges for the contest would be Ajay Bisht (Delhi), International Choreographer and Stylist), Lucy Sailo (Mizoram), Pioneer fashion designer of the Northeast, aAldous Mawlong (Meghalaya), MCS, director cum chairman of Shillong Fashion Society (SFS), Nishikanta Khoishnam (Manipur), convenor, Four Hopes (Miss Manipur) and Choreographer, and Rachael Among, Miss Nagaland 1992 and Miss East India 1995.
World of Titan, Hotel City Tower, Merrison Print House, Ekada, Café 77, Pixie Dust and Hiyo Café are the event associates.
