Parliamentary secretary horticulture R. Khing on Tuesday urged the gathering to overcome narrow minded tribal perspective and work towards Nagas cause.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at Khingmiza union silver jubilee celebration at new Terogunyu village under Tseminyu division.
Khing said hundreds years back, the Khingmiza clan spread to different places in search of fertile soil and settled on the hilltop for security reasons during head hunting days and later settled at Angami, Sumi, Lotha and Rengma areas.
“Just like the three tribes coming together as clans and relatives, other Naga tribes should also come together with one mind and set an example”, Khing said.
Director, state lottery department, Kenilo Apon, the guest of honour in his speech asked parents to sow the good seed on their children so that it helps them become somebody in future.
Challenging the gathering, he said, without competitive spirit, one cannot be successful in life, and added that by the next jubilee, he would be expecting to see many civil servants sitting among the crowd.
Zakio Metha, state secretary Bharat Scout & Guides Nagaland, Veyikha Apon, ex-MLA, Neitso Angami, president Sogotsu Thinuo Krotho also exhorted the gathering.
The programme was followed by a felicitation programme for the successful candidates of Khingmiza clan in NPSC/UPSC and academic toppers in HSLC/HSSLC where 14 persons were awarded with gifts and certificates.
It may be mentioned that Khingmiza clan consist of Khingjonyu, Tepunyu, Tselanyu, Sempfii, Thyiigviichu, Bukh, Aponza, Jiimuza, Wochanza, Meyasenza and link-clan of Metha in Angami, Kikon in Kyong Lotha and Achumi in Sumi and they migrated to different areas along with their kith and kin. Inter-marriage among these clans though different in tribe was considered as taboo.
Earlier, R. Khing unveiled the silver jubilee monolith of Khingmiza union at new Terogunyu village.
Hundreds of Khingmiza clan from different places came to celebrate the 25th anniversary. Kegwanye Lorin, president Rengma Hoho, Rev. G. Khing, International Director Asia Soul winners and Rev. Fr. G. Lawrence Khing, St. Xavier Parish Jalukie Peren were among those present in the celebration.
