Parliamentary Secretary Rural Development (RD), SIRD and REPA S. Pangnyu Phom on Monday reiterated that department of rural development was actively working for the uplift of rural people and that funds directly went to the needy people.
In a marathon interaction with media-persons at his office chamber S. Pangnyu highlighted various schemes provided by government of India and state government.
Pangnyu said rural department was implementing the following schemes Swarnjanti Gram Swarorgar Yojana(SGSY), Backward Regions Grant Funds (BRGF), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Schemes(MGNREGS), Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY), all centrally sponsored schemes funded by government of India and grant -in-aid to VDBs (GIA), a state sponsored scheme.
V. Sakhrie, Commissioner and Secretary RD said MGNERGS was successful in the state due to the strong social system of the Nagas and informed that 70 % of VDBs were very successful, while 20 % were “so so” and 10 % chronic, adding it was one of the best social public service institution of the state.
