A ten-member team of experts from South Africa gave talks on the concepts and principles of Kingdom in Business Place at Niathu Resort Friday.
The team has been meeting and interacting with a cross section of society across the 11 districts of Nagaland and Friday’s meeting in Dimapur was specifically for those involved in education, media, business and church.
Tony Johnson (New Zealand) described a Christian involved in one’s respective profession as a ‘sacred calling’ where there was no dichotomy between ‘secular and spiritual’.
Expounding on the kingdom principles, Tony explained that every Christian and not only those that are described as “10% full time” church workers, is called to be the kingdom people. He said when there can be no “part time Christians” so also there could be no “part time” church worker.
Recalling a photograph in a local newspaper, showing the tail fin of an Air India plane with Ao Naga shawl motif, he opined it meant God was going to expand Nagaland to the world.
Matthew Paul Jones, a freelance writer based at Dubai Media Scriptwriting, spoke of parallels, opportunities and challenges that media offered to Christians.
He said what was important was to note that “what we focus, we magnify and what we magnify, we glorify” in the context of sensationalism.
He said the opportunities were on truth telling and challenges on defining the nature of news and being able to remain a Christian.
Christo Brendenkamp, Managing Director of Synergy Business Intelligence threw a statement “if we are those who attend church, or if we are the church”?
Christo also served as coach in the marketplace, playing the role of raising leaders for both the local church and the business environment in South Africa.
The youngest of the 10 member team, Roger also spoke about how Kingdom in Business helps in providing for the family, providing for poverty, and building of platforms of influences to minister and disciple the people of the community. Paul Maughan with his wife spoke in terms of education and taking what God has given us and sharing it with the community.
The programme was organized by Nagaland Development Outreach (NDO), a development wing of NBCC and HN Company. The team will also be conducting a meeting in Kohima, Saturday 10 a.m. at Hotel Japfü.
