Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) a partner of Caritas India, the Principal Recipient 2 of GFATM round 9 Intensified Malaria Control Programme II distributed 1000 number of long lasting insecticide bed nets (LLIN) to seven villages under Niuland and Kuhuboto Block, Dimapur district.
The distribution programme was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Sebastian Ousepparampil, Director, DAN at Seithekima A village and Dr. Moa Jamir, District Programme Officer, NVBDCP at Kuhuboto town.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Fr. Sebastian Ousepparampil, Director, DAN, quoting Mahatma Gandhi said, “in every person’s plan, there should be a plan of what the last beneficiary will get and I am happy to see that our plan is reaching the people at the grass root level.” He also appealed to the gathering to make the best use of all the services that was being brought to their door step through the IMCP II project.
The long lasting insecticide bed nets is a special mosquito nets which kills the mosquito on contact with the net and it is one of the best way to prevent a person from getting infected with malaria.
The life span of this mosquito net (LLIN) is 4 – 5 years and it can be washed as many as 20 times but cannot be dried under direct sunlight.
Other highlight of the programme were awareness programme on prevention and control of Malaria and importance of LLIN delivered by Dr. Moa Jamir, DPO, NVBDCP and Mr. Atu Longkumar, assistant entomologist, NVBDCP, Dimapur.
Ng. Phuba James, district project officer, IMCP II, DAN also gave a brief highlight on IMCP II project and the different benefit people would receive from this project and appealed to the people to avail all the services provided through the project.
