Public Action Committee (PAC) Dimapur Thursday resolved to “monitor and screen illegal immigrants” following a series of meetings held in the aftermath of the “outrageous” February 6 gang rape of a Naga woman by five miscreants.

PAC “unanimously” resolved and notified that all the “original/permanent” Muslim settlers of Dimapur should obtain prescribed forms from the office of Naga Council (NC), Dimapur and submit the duly filled forms by March 10, 2012. NC office would remain open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Monday to Thursday).

PAC resolution stated that it decided to “enroll and register” permanent Muslim settlers of Dimapur to “segregate” illegal migrants and to protect the identity and privilege of original Muslim settlers.

Any citizen claiming to be original/permanent Muslim settlers found “not possessing proper documents” would be deemed as “illegal immigrant” and would be “referred” to responsible authorities for necessary “action /deportation”, said the resolution.
The authorities would be assisted by members of Youth Association of Nagaland (YAN) under the PAC.

The resolution also reiterated that “ILP Units/Passport Control Units” be posted at Dimapur Railway station, Dillai Gate, Nagaland Gate (Golaghat Rd). While stating that ILP’s original purpose was to protect the Nagas, PAC said that the “unregulated” influx of illegal migrants was “tied” with all vices that have “damaged the society”.

It has reaffirmed “appreciation and solidarity” with all non-Nagas who have “faithfully and sincerely” maintained cordial relations and respect for the “ethos and culture” of the Nagas.
