Vehemently condemning the March 29 incident where a minor girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour at Thahekhu village, Grace Academy, Thahekhu village Friday said the perpetrator did not deserve “an iota of human consideration.”
In a condemnation letter, teacher in-charge Ngaurailiu Zeliang urged the responsible authority to award the accused “maximum punishment” as per the law so to ensure such “satanic acts” did not recur in the society.
The minor was raped by Sivel Uryia (26) at his residence March 29 at around 2:30 p.m. The accused was caught by Thahekhu village students’ union and handed over to the village council, Thahekhu. After examining the case, the culprit was then handed over to Dimapur police, Women Cell.
Meanwhile, the Grace Academy has expressed gratitude to the Thahekhu village council and students’ union for their “prompt intervention and wisdom.”
