NIELIT Kohima has set up the first Research and Development Lab & Training facility in cyber forensics in the state sponsored by ministry of communication & IT, department of electronics & IT, government of India with the objective to solve cyber crime which was one of the most prevalent crimes these days.
Although internet offers great benefit to society, it also gives opportunities for crime using new and highly sophisticated technology tools. NIELIT Kohima, has helped law enforcement agency of Nagaland to solve and crack the first ever cyber crime reported in Nagaland.
It also provides services to various departments and organization especially the Law Enforcement Agency of the state. In this regard, NIELIT Kohima organized the first ever awareness cum workshop on Cyber Forensics & Cyber Crimes for the HOD/AHODS/IT nodal officers of the state government and various institutions in 2011.
It also imparted orientation course training to the superintendents of police and unit commandants of the state which was a structured mandatory course.NIELIT Kohima has planned to train 100 to 150 officials of Law Enforcement Agency in the state. The first batch of the training was conducted at NIELIT Kohima from April 9-13 to Police officials of the state.
