Artefacting will be presenting “culture in transition” a contemporary multi-media event and forum free to the public on May 19 at WW-II tank site Kohima.
The programme would begin from 11am- 7pm featuring Thevoma youth cultural troupe Khonoma, Tetseo sisters, Mengu Suokhrie, Headhunters video and Artefacting installation during the event.
The organizers at the press conference on May 15 said preparation were on for the programme. Artefacting’s one-month community-based project will be presented as public art and serve as stimulus transformed with twelve art, photo and video installations plus music and performances highlighting different facets of Naga identity within today’s rapidly transforming and globalizing cultural landscape, the organizers added.
Alex White Mazzarella the leader of the Artefacting team said this project was an open platform for everyone to speak out and express their opinion freely relating to culture, social life, tradition, fashion, etc. Alex said this project was to link up people with creative ideas, more of passion based and concern for the betterment of the society.
The transcript of a 150 meter black cloth filled with the voices of Nagaland would be displayed, the organizers informed.
It may be mentioned that Artefacting is a global social arts project dedicated to stimulating community cohesion, dialogue and social justice. Fiscal & supporting partner the Brooklyn Arts Council gives Artefacting 501 c (3) non-profit status.
It is a non-profit organization that consists of artists, photographers, teachers, activists and people who are passionate about social justice.
