In a major boost to Dimapur traffic police, ten traffic points in Dimapur are being modernized under Police Headquarters (PHQ) modernization programme.
The selected ten traffic points include Holy Cross school point, Dhobinala point, Khermahal point, deluxe point, Tragopan point, Burma Camp point, Burma Camp veterinary point, Nagarjan point, Purana Bazar point and a new traffic point at central jail junction 4th mile. So far three traffic points have been completed however the rest of the traffic points are expected to be completed by this month.
The new traffic points are not only beautified but are also equipped with essential facilities like fan and chair, among others.
Talking with Nagaland Post, superintendent of police, Z Mero said that the renovations are being taken up by a Kolkata-based contractor whose company had also manufactured the equipments.
Mero said initiative was taken by the department for the welfare of the traffic policemen who had to perform their duties on the streets.
Asserting facilities like fan and “rolling chair” were being provided, Mero was hopeful that it would motivate the personnel to work hard with sincerity and dedication.
Asked whether the much needed traffic lights would be installed, Mero, while saying presently it was not in the proposal, however said Dimapur police was planning to take the proposal to the department.
