NGOs at Namsa, Mon district Wednesday apprehended one person allegedly a co-accused in an attempted rape/molestation case of a minor girl (class 9 student), Tuesday night at Namsa.
However, the main accused has been absconding. Sources said that both the accused supposedly belonged to one of the NSCN factions.
According to sources, the incident occured Tuesday night when the main accused forcibly entered the rented house of the minor girl who lives with her brother.
Sources said the person locked the door from inside and “molested her and tried to rape her”, while the co-accused was waiting outside.
Fortunately, the minor girl managed to free herself and escaped through the back door and reported the matter to her uncle living nearby.
On hearing about the incident, her uncle rushed to the spot and managed to apprehend the co-accused while the other managed to flee.
The matter has been now been taken up by the NGOs– Konyak Union Tizit unit, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khung and Tizit Area Student’s Union.
