He is a regular in the Lakme fashion week where he never fails to wow the fashionable gliterrati with his designs. His resume includes training at the prestigious Domus academy Milan and National Institute of Fashion Technology or NIFT, Bangalore. Top models and socialities often walk down to his store to buy his beautiful clothes.

Top stores all over the country stock outfits designed by him, and yet Sailex Ngairangbam, remains unaffected and very approachable. He doesn’t cringe in talking of the time he ventured out of his hometown in Imphal, Manipur as a tongue tied young boy with nothing more than colourful dreams.

Talking to the Vision Communications, Sailex recalled, “When I joined NIFT in Bangalore, I was not very extrovert. First time a Manipuri boy is exposed to different culture and environment. But slowly I managed to adjust and made many friends. It was a nice experience.”

Today exposure has made Sailex far much more open. He candidly talks about the shanty places he has stayed in, the hard times he has gone through. And yet he loves Delhi, his present home because the city has made him bloom.

In his own words,“Delhi is full of struggle. Extreme heat and extreme cold. Even at this scorching heat I have go out and source materials for my assignments”.

“But Delhi is the place to be. I have no problem with Delhiites. They are cooperative. I have certainly gained in my profession here.”

Working out of his two room studio, Sailex gets orders not only from upmarket stores all over the country – from delhi to Kerala, but also gets a good volume of export orders from abroad.

Hard work coupled with his sheer vision for what will look beautiful and his eye for colours has brought Sailex success, and a lot of respect. Instead of  discriminating against him, as many youth living in Delhi claim to be facing, people from other states of the country work under him.

For the youth of Manipur, Sailex’s message comes pat without the blink of an eye
According to Silex, “people should devote more time to work. Back home, we try to bring in more work culture.

But it’s not happening. Being a Manipuri, I have come out here in Delhi because in my state we lack work culture.”
