Opioid substitution therapy (OST) centre was launched at district Hospital Kiphire on July 14 at a short program held at district hospital. State program officer NSACS Dr. R. Rose was the resource person.
Dr. Rose, presented a brief description on what Opioid substitution therapy was all about and its importance.
He said it was not an easy task, yet with proper co-operation from everyone, success would be attained.
Dr. Yankho Lotha, CMO Kiphire in his address urged the gathering to make the best use of the facility and to extract maximum benefit of the services that are provided in the health units adding that will power and determination was the key to fight against HIV and AIDS.
Renbo Lotha, senior project officer, project orchid, said installation of Opioid substitution therapy result proved fruitful wherever it was launched and said it was all about adherence, commitment and willingness to change as Opioid substitution therapy was the best treatment for intravenous drug (ID) users. Medical officers and staff of newly inaugurated Opioid substitution therapy were present at the inaugural programme.
