Kohima Law College legal literacy and awareness campaign was launched at Kohima Law College on July 14 under the theme ‘empowering youth.’
Advocate & president Nagaland Voluntary Consumer’s Organisation (NVCO) Kezhokhoto Savi, while launching the campaign said many children in Nagaland do not attend school and are deprived of learning about legal rights.
Savi said the campaign on legal literacy was vital to educate one’s rights and duties and to take necessary steps to ensure that legal aid and services and other provisions was aimed at assisting the poor and weaker sections of the society.
Reminding the gathering to be alert and vigilant while buying goods, Savi said Consumer Protection Act, 1986 lies in promoting the welfare of the society, to enable the consumer participate directly in the market economy.
The legal literacy and awareness campaign was conducted in collaboration with Nagaland Voluntary Consumer’s Organisation & Nagaland state legal services authority.
