Continuing with its monitoring of loopholes in various departments and to check misuse of public fund, Dimapur District Congress Committee (DDCC) anti-corruption cell Sunday said that it had found out discrepancies in Civil Administrative Works Division (CAWD) which was responsible for construction and maintenance of functional and non-functional buildings under the district administration.

Talking to Nagaland Post, convenor, DDCC anti-corruption cell, H. Kisheto Chishi said that after the inauguration of EAC headquarters at Aghunaqa under Niuland sub-division in the last part of 2007, one EAC was deputed but was transferred in 2010 and the headquarters was still without an EAC.

He said after inauguration of the EAC office, the state government had sanctioned Rs.60.36 lakhs, the estimated cost earmarked in 2009-10, and the budget provision for the same was Rs.2 lakhs.

Kisheto added the expenditure incurred upto the end of 2009-10 was 2 lakhs while the budget provision during 2010-11 was Rs.40 lakhs while the expenditure incurred upto the end of 2010-11 was 42 lakhs and the budget provision during 2011-12 was 18.36 lakhs. However, Kisheto said till date the construction of the EAC office was yet to begin.

The anti-corruption cell convenor cited that many a time the Aghunaqa GB Association and the Aghunaqa Area Students’ Union had enquired about the fund for the construction of the EAC office to the competent authority but they were told that the fund had been diverted for the construction of EAC office at Seithekiema.

Kisheto stated that in this regard the Aghunaqa GBs association and the Aghunaqa area students’ union have also published their grievances demanding the government to look into the matter in various local dailies but the government has not been responding to their plea.

DDCC anti-corruption cell convenor demanded that the state government come clean and should be answerable to what has happened to Rs.60.36 lakhs that was sanctioned for the construction of the EAC office.

The cell said that it has also written to the government on the same issue but till date there was no response from the department.

It may be mentioned that Aghunaqa has 38 villages and this area has been considered a sensitive belt bordering Assam.
