Nagaland state BJP unit Thursday appreciated the initiative of Joint Legislators Forum (JLF) stand to “step down from the present position” in the event of Indo-Naga political settlement but said it would have been appropriate if the chief minister had convened a joint consultation with various NGOs, ‘national workers’ of different factions, Naga Hoho, political parties and the public of Nagaland.
In a statement, BJP state unit general secretary and spokesperson, K.James Vizo said that the JLF’s move would have been more positive by first taking on to confidence of all with “a consensus approach”.
Reminding that past experiences has shown that divided opinions and approaches had always gone against the cherished aspiration for “honorable solution”, BJP state unit said the people have suffered enough during the long political struggle and that a collective opinion and approach was the need of the hour. The BJP statement said that people wanted lasting solution not a “piece-meal solution”.
Meanwhile, in order to assess the current party affairs and the development at the state level, BJP MP in charge of Nagaland Rajen Gohain Thursday had an extensive discussion with the state senior BJP workers at Dimapur.
The state BJP unit also released and submitted a report on “Eastern Nagaland demand on Statehood” to the visiting MP for further perusal and necessary action at the central level.
