Three-day training programme for VDBs and VCs organized by DRDA, Wokha, began on July 31 with Hilo Semp, project director, DRDA, Wokha as chief guest.
Speaking at the function, project director said the primary objective of the training programme was to impart basic computer knowledge to the village governing authorities so as to enable them to maintain and update their developmental records.
He said in the fast changing world, working without computer knowledge would be considered outdated.
The facility was provided by the ministry of Panchayati Raj, government of India.
Government of India has already declared that by 2020, India, would be a developed country because of which, the government of India was to educate the people in village level with the importance and advantage of information technology.
It may be mentioned that altogether there are 118 registered villages in the district under DRDA, Wokha, and still there were few that have been recognized just recently.
However, as the department received only 112 sets of computers, it would be giving out the same according to the names sent from Kohima.
The department would monitor the record and award special prize to the village maintaining the best record within few months.
Deputy commissioner Wokha, Vyasen R appreciated the department and encouraged participants to take full advantage of the facilities provided by making proper usage and work towards better society.
The three-day training would culminate on August 2 with deputy commissioner, Wokha, Vyasan R. (IAS) as chief guest who will also hand over the PC Sets to VDBs.
