Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio met Prince Andrew, the Duke of York during his visit to London. According to a statement from the chief minister’s secretariat, Rio who is in London to witness the Olympics, was invited to Buckingham Palace by Prince Andrew. The chief minister accompanied by planning minister T.R Zeliang and press secretary to the chief minister met the Prince at Buckingham Palace.
Rio and Prince Andrew discussed matters relating to improving bilateral ties between UK and India, particularly Nagaland, said the statement.
Matters relating to increasing people-to-people contact, better understanding and mutual cooperation in various sectors were also discussed.
The statement also said that the chief minister congratulated Prince Andrew on the successful Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Queen and also wished UK a successful Olympic Games. The chief minister gifted the Duke of York a coffee table book on his visit to Nagaland and the Duke of York also gifted Rio a designer’s bag.
