In line with the observance of ‘Breastfeeding Week’, district health society, Mokokchung organized a baby show competition on August 7 at IDSP Conference Hall, IMDH Mokokchung. Altogether 28 babies between 6 to 15 months participated in the competition.
At the short inaugural programme, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Mokokchung, Dr. S.S. Akaba highlighted on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months and also to initiate breast feeding within 1 hour of birth.
He encouraged parents for timely immunization of their children and to provide a proper diet for a healthy living.
The competitions were adjudged on different criterias like growth and development, immunization, general appearance – cleanliness and hygiene.
The first prize was bagged by Arenla with cash prize of Rs. 2000 and certificate, second was bagged by Kilensang with cash prize of Rs.1500 and certificate and third by Tekalem with cash prize of Rs.1000 and certificate.
Prizes were also distributed on different titles i.e. Imlisola bagged the ‘best dress’ title, Wapangtoshi ‘beautiful smile’ title and Imtinok was voted the ‘crowd favourite. The three title holders were given Rs.500 each.
Himalaya Drug Company, Zevida Division sponsored the gifts for the Top 11 babies and to all the participants .
The judges were Dr. Wapang Paediatrician, Dr. Chubala Aier pathologist and Dr. Limatula District immunization Officer,Mokokchung assisted by nurses.
